The Refinery is one of Brisbane's Best Wedding Venues located in the heart of Newstead. Our team has years of hospitality and event experience and we pride ourselves on delivering industry-leading food with an impeccable standard of service.

We also work alongside our sister venue (literally right next door), Rogue Bistro, a relaxed, vibey degustation restaurant.

Across both venues, we are a tight-knit team that hustles with the goal of being the best in everything we do, but most importantly maintaining a friendly work environment and a positive work culture.


VIBE & EXPERIENCE

We are on the hunt for a hospitality professional looking to advance their career in event coordination. Does this sound like you?

  • You looove weddings.

  • You're highly organised with excellent attention to detail.

  • You are super friendly, personable, approachable and calm, with great communication skills.

  • You're keen for a hustle and can bring energy and vibe to the team.

  • You work or have worked in hospitality and understand that service is everything!

  • You're an admin wizard on Mac and love Google Sheets.

  • You have basic knowledge and skills using inDesign & Illustrator (not essential, but highly regarded).

  • You're tidy, appreciate self-care and are well-presented.


THE ROLE

Opening up space to join our dream team is a very rare opportunity, so we're looking for the right person to fulfil this role that will evolve over time. It's important to us that we find someone who is committed and has a genuine passion for both the hospitality and wedding industries, as they go hand in hand in delivering exceptional events. Here is the general overview of how this role will progress:

  • All-Rounder - An all-rounder role learning all sections across The Refinery & Rogue Bistro. You'll get to learn the ins & outs of general operations across both of our businesses. This predominantly begins as a wait staff/bar staff role.
     

  • Shift Supervisor - Now that you know the lay of the land service-wise, you'll begin supervising & training staff, leading daily briefings, liaising with vendors, setting up & closing the venue, and providing general assistance/support to the Event Coordinator.
     

  • Assistant Event Coordinator - You'll begin closely shadowing our Event Coordinators from a different perspective, getting deep into the behind the scenes and learning how we host venue viewings, final meetings and prepare for events.
     

  • Event Coordinator - The end goal! You've become a coordinator Queen/King where we're confident you can liaise with clients from initial viewings, assist with planning along the way, through to elite execution of on-the-day coordination. You'll be rostering teams, managing & coordinating staff and providing support to the Event Manager.


PAY & PERKS

  • Commencing at $70k + Super, increasing progressively based on competency to $100k + Super

  • Staff meals included

  • Personal locker & dedicated staff room amenities for breaks

  • Annual 2 week closure over Christmas


WORKING DAYS & HOURS

  • This is a full-time role and our working days are Wednesday-Sunday - we ain't your regular M-F 9-5 gig! Weekend work is a must.

  • Exact working hours will vary from week to week, however, office days are typically from 12pm-8pm and event days from 2pm/3pm-11pm/12am depending on event timings.
